Highlights of the month include the Braemar Gathering, the Scottish Countryside Festival, and the Scottish Book Town Festival.



The Braemar Gathering
6th Sept 2008, Braemar
Possibly the most popular of all the Highland Games in the world, and the only one which guarantees the presence of a member of the royal family. Track events and displays, pipers and dancers.


Scottish Countryside Festival
6th & 7th September 2008, Glamis, Angus
Scotland's Countryside Festival is held in the spectacular grounds of Glamis Castle, home of the Queen Mother as a child. A varied range of attractions such as fishing, shooting, dog competitions, archery, craft stalls and fun for the children.


Scottish Food Fortnight
6th - 21st Sept 2008, Countrywide.
Scottish Food Fortnight is a celebration of Scottish food and drink. Taking part will be Shops, hotels, restaurants, schools and farmers.


Brechin Arts Festival
13th - 28th September 2008, Brechin.
With over 30 exhibitors, 73 performances, workshops and demonstrations, the Brechin Arts Festival is one of the biggest cultural events in Scotland.


Merchant City Festival
25th - 28th September 2008, Glasgow.
Glasgow's old commercial quarter celebrates with an arts festival that includes music, theatre, film and comedy.


Autumn Speyside Whisky Festival
26th - 29th September 2008, Dufftown, Moray.
Whisky lovers' paradise. A celebration of our national drink. Visit and tour some of scotlands most famous distilleries with exhibitions and tasting.


Scottish Book Town Festival
26th Sept - 5th October 2008, Wigtown, Dumfries & Galloway.
Known as Scotland's national book town, Wigtown hosts the festival with over 250,000 books. a great chance to meet some of the country's renowned writers.


Highland Feast
Every weekend in Sept, Venues across the Highlands.
A masterclass in culinary events from Aviemore to Inverness and Nairn to Sutherland. Celebrate food and drink with celebrity chefs in hotels, castles and even distilleries.
