The monetary unit of Scotland is the Great Britain Pound, and the converter tool will let you see how far your money will stretch.

Although Scotland has its own banking system, English banknotes are legal tender and freely accepted, so you are likely to have a mixture of Scottish and English notes while you are here.

Banknotes will be in denominations of £5, £10, £20 and £50. Coinage consists of 'pence' which come in 1,2,5,10,20, and 50 pence pieces, a £1 coin, and a £2 coin. There are 100 pence to £1, and although It's always handy to arrive at your destination with some local currency, remember not to carry too much cash. Travellers cheques are a much safer bet.
